Alison Wang of the New York University women's tennis team was named Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metro Player of the Week on Wednesday, April 16.
The sophomore was a perfect 2-0 in first singles play over the weekend, posting two 6-2, 6-2 victories. In addition, she was able to lead the Violets to their first team victory of the season by winning her first doubles match on Sunday, April 13, as well.
She began the weekend with a win over Marylen Santon of SUNY Geneseo on Saturday, April 12. NYU fell in a tight match, 5-4, to the Knights. The next day, the Great Neck, NY, native defeated Ally Kristofco of Wilkes University and paired up with teammate
Mari Tzakis to win 8-3 in doubles en route to NYU's 8-1 victory over the Lady Colonels.
This is Wang's second straight ECAC award, as well as the second of her career.
She and the rest of the Violets are back in action on Wednesday afternoon, April 16, at The College of New Jersey in Ewing, NJ.
