The New York University women's basketball team is ranked #25 in the most recent USA Today Coaches Poll released on Tuesday, January 14. The Violets also received five votes toward a top-25 ranking in the D3hoops.com Poll released on Tuesday.

NYU (12-0) is off to its best start since the 2007-08 season, when the Violets also began the year at 12-0.

Most recently, the Violets won their University Athletic Association (UAA) opener at home against Brandeis University on Saturday, January 11, 67-57 at the Coles Sports Center.

"We are appreciative of the national recognition. It's great for our confidence and for recruiting," said Head Coach Lauren-Hall Gregory. "But, we are still a long way from our ultimate goal."

In addition to NYU, two other UAA institutions are ranked in the top-25 of the USA Today Poll. Washington University-St. Louis (11-1) is the highest ranked Association team at #4, while Emory University is ranked #8.

The Violets will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Chicago and St. Louis for two UAA contests. NYU will face the University of Chicago on Friday, January 17, with tip-off scheduled for 6:00 pm central time. The Violets then face the Washington Bears on Sunday, January 19, with a scheduled 2:00 pm central time tip.
