A DIVISION RESULTS | B DIVISION RESULTS

The New York University wrestling squad competed at the New York State Championships at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY,  on Sunday, November 24.

Eighteen NYU grapplers, split between A and B squads, took part in the action. The A team was officially competing for NYU and placed 15th out of 19 schools.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Sam Friedfeld put together a 3-2 record at 157 pounds for NYU-B, advancing all the way to the consolation semifinals.

- Richy Cruz went 2-2 on the day at 141 pounds for NYU-A, advancing to the fourth round of the consolation bracket.

- Dylan Lojac posted a 2-2 record at 157 pounds for NYU-A, advancing to the fourth round of the consolation bracket.

- Kyzen Smith went 2-2 at 165 pounds for NYU-B.

- DJ Albonico advanced to the fourth round of the consolation bracket, competing at 149 pounds for NYU-A.

- Dan Brereton advanced to the third round of the consolation bracket at 197 pounds for NYU-A.

- Nick Matthews competed at 141 pounds for NYU-B, advancing to the third round of the consolations.

The team will be back on the mat on a big stage against Stevens Insitute of Technology at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, December 1. The dual match, scheduled to begin at 12 p.m., will be one of many to take place at the Garden during the annual Grapple at the Garden event.
