The New York University women's volleyball team has received a bid to the 2013 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Tournament. The Violets finished the regular season with an overall record of 27-7 and a University Athletic Association (UAA) mark of 4-3.

NYU enters the Tournament after having won its last two matches at last weekend's UAA Championship. After falling to Carnegie Mellon University in the quarterfinals, the Violets went on to defeat the University of Rochester and Case Western Reserve University.

In the NCAA Tournament, the Violets will be facing Nazareth College at Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY, at 5:30 pm on Friday, November 15.  The Violets defeated Nazareth in five sets at the New York State Challenge in Rochester, NY, on November 1.

If the Violets advance, they will play again on Saturday, November 16, at 6:00 pm against the winner of the Clarkson/Westfield State University contest.

The regional championship match is set for 2:30 pm on Sunday, November 17.

"We are excited and looking forward to the opportunity of playing in the NCAA Tournament," said Head Coach Jolie Ward. "This will be a great experience for some of our younger players and a memorable way for our seniors to end their careers."

This marks the 10th NCAA Tournament selection for NYU and the first under Coach Ward. The Violets' last appearance came in 2010 when they reached the Elite Eight. The program's greatest NCAA successes came in 2003 and 2004, as the Violets reached the Final Four in back-to-back seasons. In 2003, NYU advanced to the National Championship Match but fell to another UAA rival, Washington University.

NYU is one of five UAA teams selected to participate in the tournament. The others are UAA Champion University of Chicago, Emory University, Washington, and Carnegie Mellon.
