Women's Volleyball Tops Carnegie Mellon

Violets Finish UAA Round Robin 2-1

The New York University women's volleyball team (18-2, 2-1) completed the University Athletic Association (UAA) Round Robin #1 with a win on Sunday, October 6, in Cleveland, OH. 
 
NYU defeated Carnegie Mellon (16-6, 1-2) in straight sets by a score of 25-20, 27-25, 25-18. The Violets overcame a 25-24 deficit in the second to take the last three points and a commanding 2-0 set lead. 
 
After a tie score of 10-10 in the third set, NYU won the next six points in a row to put the match out of reach. 

Highlights:
 
- Alexandria Mao led the squad with 12 kills and 10 digs.
 
- Nicole Frias added eight kills to go along with an impressive .727 hitting percentage.
 
- Emily Moore dished out 32 assists.
 
- NYU out-killed Carnegie 40-33.
 
"The second set comeback was a huge momentum shift for us," said NYU Head Coach Jolie Ward. "We are firing on all cylinders and I am very pleased with everyone's contributions."
 
The team returns to action in two weeks when it competes in the UAA Round Robin #2 in St. Louis, MO, on Saturday and Sunday, October 16-17.
