Meet Results
New York University's men's swimming and diving team started the fall season with a win against SUNY Cortland on Saturday, October 12, at the Palladium Athletic Facility in Manhattan.
The Violets won the competition by a score of 193-96, the fourth consecutive season in which NYU has defeated SUNY Cortland in the first meet of the season.
Senior
Charlie Wu took first place in the 100-yard backstroke (54.94), second place in the 200-yard backstroke (
2:02.04), and was a member of the winning 200-yard medley relay team (
1:38.15) along with junior
Matt Kendall, junior
Jerry Crowley and sophomore
Win Htet Oo.
Highlights:
- Senior diver
Adam Winerip had an NCAA qualifying score of 293.10 on the three-meter, winning that event as well as the one-meter (252.82)
"Great start for our divers today," said Diving Coach
Scott Donie. "Everybody seems to be relaxed and having fun. I'm looking forward to moving on from here."
- Freshman
Ryan Yue took first place in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of
10:02.36 and in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of
4:51.13
- Along with participating on the 200-yard medley relay, Crowley also won the 50-yard freestyle while achieving a NCAA "B" cut and a Palladium Natatorium record time (20.56). He also captured the 100-yard butterfly (51.00).
"The team has been working really hard over the past few weeks and it was great to see them finally get up and race," said Head Coach
Trevor Miele. "We have a lot of training ahead of us, but it was great to get off to a fast start."
The Violets' next competition will be the University of Rochester Invitational in Rochester, NY, on
Friday and Saturday, October 25-26.
