After suffering its first loss of the season last week, the New York University men's soccer team dropped in the national and regional rankings on Tuesday, October 9.
In the
D3soccer.com Top 25 Poll, the Violets (9-1-1) fell from #7 to to #14. NYU's drop was even larger in the
National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire poll, as the team slid from #6 to #20.
In the
NSCAA regional rankings, the Violets went from #1 to #3. The Stevens Institute of Technology jumped ahead of NYU to #2 in the regional rankings despite the fact that the Violets beat the Ducks 1-0 earlier in the season.
NYU is still in first where it matters most, in
the University Athletic Association (UAA) standings. The Violets are tied atop the table with Carnegie Mellon University and Brandeis University; all three teams are 1-0-1 in UAA play, giving each four points in the standings.
Carnegie Mellon and Brandeis are also the two other nationally ranked UAA squads. The Tartans are #6 in the D3soccer.com poll and #5 in the NSCAA rankings, while the Judges are #7 and #9, respectively.
NYU continues its quest for the UAA title this weekend when it travels to Washington University and the University of Chicago for a Friday-Sunday road trip. The Violets open the trip against the Bears at 8:00 pm central time in St. Louis, MO.
