Wednesday's win over Kings Point was really big for us. For the first time, this one just felt right. I don't know if it was our defense or the enthusiasm from players on the court and bench, but it felt like things were starting to come together.
The play that I think summed up how we played was when Omar (Meziab), who is about four inches shorter than his listed height, out-fought one of their forwards for an offensive board, and got an "and-1" on the putback. He was so excited, his post-bucket fist pump/celebration brought him to the floor. Did he look foolish? Yes. But that play was the turning point in the game for us, and an embodiment of how we have to play the rest of the year. Although it was only one play, it showed that we were playing with toughness and passion.
Our next game is in Brooklyn against City Tech. They're an athletic team that we have to keep off the boards. If we bring the same hustle and intensity displayed against Kings Point, we should be very tough to beat.

After beating SUNY Old Westbury last weekend, everyone is really looking forward to staying hot against the College of Mount St. Vincent. Only having one game a week makes everyone real anxious to get back on the court and play. We've had a good week of practice, putting in a couple of new looks versus zone and man. Practices have been a lot more competitive, which hopefully will yield better results in the game.
It is important that we play up to our capabilities on Saturday. This team has a lot of talent, we just have to work hard and take nothing for granted when game-time comes around. Mount Saint Vincent should be a good challenge for us, but I really believe we are ready for a breakout game.
Come out and support us.

It's been a good week of practice leading up to the game on Sunday. After a tough Tip-Off Tournament, everyone on the team is looking forward to getting back on the court. We have been focusing a lot more on defensive principles in practice, and hope to improve on Sunday. The most important thing we have to do on Sunday is cut down on our turnovers. We turned the ball over 18 times against Skidmore, and that simply won't get the job done.
SUNY Old Westbury will be a tough matchup, and we have to come out of the gate strong. If we rebound well, hustle, and outwork them on defense, we should be OK. We are all looking forward to the challenge.
