Five New York University student-athletes have been named to the inaugural University Athletic Association (UAA) Presidents Scholar-Athlete Team.
Overall, the team is comprised of 80 student-athletes representing all eight UAA schools across eight men’s sports and eight women’s sports.
To earn this recognition, a student-athlete must have earned First Team All-UAA honors and carried a 3.50 or greater cumulative grade point average during that playing season.
Of the honorees, six earned First Team All-Association honors in more than one sport, and eight were named the most outstanding performer or most valuable player in their sport by the respective UAA coaches’ group (two of those were from NYU)..
The five representatives from NYU are:
Jesse Schneider - Cross Country, Track & Field
Adam Dhanens - Soccer
Chelsea Pfohl - Swimming & Diving
Melanie Peters - Swimming & Diving
Bernier Lauredan - Track & Field
Schneider was the individual UAA Cross Country Champion, while Peters was selected UAA Women’s Diver of the Year. Pfohl was the UAA 100 Butterfly Champion and 100 Backstroke Co-Champion. Lauredan was the UAA Indoor and Outdoor 800 Meter Champion. Dhanens was a First Team All-UAA selection.
